SUSTAINBILITY GUIDE FOR STUDENTS
In 2012, Southern Cross University has produced a guide to assist students to live sustainably, both on-campus and at home:
HOME SUSTAINABILITY AUDIT KITS
Reduce electricity and water consumption, reduce household waste, create a healthier home environment and SAVE MONEY!!
The Southern Cross University Green Library team has Home Sustainability Audit kits for loan at each SCU campus Library.
Each kit contains a Power Meter, Water Flow Measuring Cup, Lux Fc and Light Meter, Infrared Thermometer with Laser Pointer, Energy Efficiency Temperature Gauge, a Power-Mate Energy Meter (and most importantly, step by step instructions for using all of them). You can test the efficiency of common household appliances and even test where your home lets in the cold in winter or the heat in summer!
The kits are available now so get ‘clean and green’, and click on the link below to check availability.
NORTHERN RIVERS AND MID NORTH COAST CARPOOL PROJECTS
The Carpool Projects are designed to encourage Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast residents to share their journey with others to communte to and from locations within the region. For example, you could carpool with a driver that passes your house (or close-by), and who is also destined for your SCU campus. You could arrange to contribute to petrol costs, or share the driving if you have a car. Other benefits of carpooling are:
- saves money;
- helps reduce carbon gas emissions;
- makes roads safer by fewer cars; and
- you can win member rewards
